Engine hatch retrofit gas struts

Hi. I have a fairline corniche 31. Has anyone retrofitted gas struts at all or electric rams etc? Or if not on a fairline have you done this on another boat? I'm wondering how best to tackle the project and wanted some ideas from what other people might have done.

Mines has them on the hatches, what would you like to know?
