My Engine Bay Soundproofing has what I think is some form of metal coating on glass cloth over the outer surface. It is fraying in places, and coming unstuck. I also plan to cut into the foam to mount a holder for the wash board (there is one, but in the wrong cabin). I'm wondering if it is possible to replace this cloth, without replacing the foam.

Any suggestions?

Not quite sure if you're replacing the whole material or just some of it.
If you need to just seal the edges etc. use silver foil tape.

I'd quite like to replace all of it. Ideally just the material, but if this is a problem I could use some with a thin layer of foam.

The Bavaria soundproofing is not very good quality. Some of mine is breaking down just as you describe. All you can do is try to keep the fraying edges tidy. Where i have added on mine under the cockpit sole I used the best quality from Halyard Marine. Worth paying the extra for the materials as it is a big job to fit, particularly replacing existing, but worth it for the improvement in soundproofing.
