engine bay heating

Hello,

I want to put a tubular heater in my engine bay until boat comes out in 2/3 weeks time. I have no power sockets in the engine bay, so... Is it just a case of jamming the bay open and running an extension to the nearest socket or should i install a socket in the engine bay for this purpose? Your thoughts please...

The way I do is just stuff a bit of rag or sponge between the hatch and rim to stop the lead being pinched.

That’s exactly what I do, and it works fine. My only other addition is a thermostat between the plug and heater which is set at 5 degrees, so the heater only comes on when its below that temperature.
