This might sound stupid but I have noticed that some sea raw water cooled engine have anodes fitted within them and others do not. Take my Volvo TAMD 41 – P having trolled through the manual and crawled around the engine compartment I can see no evidence of a single engine anode . Is this the case with some engines or am I missing something (which wouldn’t surprise me ). Why would some engines have them and others not? If the anodes are not fitted is there something else I need to be doing I wonder

I had some older AD41's and I'm sure there were at least 2there. One on the heat exchanger at the back and one on the oil cooler. It'll be something like a 1/2inch square plug that comes out and the new zinc screws into it

[/ QUOTE ] There is not really anything you can do if there is no provision to fit an anode. Hull mounted anodes are not effective in protecting the engine cooling system.

An indirectly cooled engine should be protected by antifreeze or a corrosion inhibitor.
