I perhaps need to use a larger spanner to undo it? and what sealant/washer do I use to put the new one in with please. your help is always appreciated.
I had to use my foot on the spanner while the wife held it in place! Worked though. Don't slip or you will lose a lot of skin as your leg tries to scrape metal bits off the engine. BoL
I think it's the same as on my 2001; a square nut sitting in the head on the front. Last time I replaced mine I seem to remember wondering why it was square and then trying a socket extension bar on it (or I'm remembering this wrong and I used a socket as well). This made it easier, and safer for the knuckles, with an adjustable spanner on the end.
I've never been able to install the whole anode that volvo supply; one end has a thread and the other a threaded hole. I always have to cut off the thread end to get it to fit. Am I doing something wrong?
