Ok AndieMac, I know that you guys down under are now at the very beginning of the boating season...
But since most forumites are located in the N emisphere, I thought that someone might appreciate a short reminder of summer.
In fact, down here in the middle of the Med, we were blessed with glorious weather for most of Oct, and also some days of Nov have been good enough for swimming with no wetsuit.
All the clips in the video were taken between mid of Oct and only a few days ago, just to give an idea....
Better seen in 720p and full screen, if you've got a decent bandwidth.
Enjoy! :)

Very nice M, feel quite jealous as I've only been in the water a handful of times since August. And never without a wetsuit. Recovered a small boat at Dartmouth yesterday and the water, for the first time since late spring, had quite a chilly feel to it.

Excellent work P, nice editing and great choice of audio. Guessing location around the south-west of the Island, before the lighthouse, travelling clockwise?

Couldn't help notice the extended facial growth :), looking very care-free and salty sea-dog ;)

Looking forward to catching up in January!

What a great vid! Reminds me very much of our UK East Coast cruising ground..........or maybe not! :)

Yep, the last week in Oct was lovely in SoF, we spent a few days at anchor and water was plenty warm enough for swimming without wet suits. Helps to make up for a windy August.

Correct, that's one of the spots, but actually there are several different places in the video.
You didn't think to have seen everything, did you? There are some other lovely spots waiting for your next visit!
Yep, see U soon down under... :)

Wow! What can I say except that it breaks my heart knowing that had we taken you up on your very kind invitation, i could have experienced that first hand :(

A complete opposite to the very miserable conditions here.

Very nicely made vid and an excellent choice of music, imho. :)

well done MapisM,
its a absolutely feel good movie.

is all the underwaterfilming done while freediving, or dit your get your scuba gear from under the dust ? ;-)
there are quite a few long passages, and filmed all very relaxed ?

I'm here in Montenegro, weather is still very good right now, didn't test the water temp, but must be stil>20° I guess.
4 weeks ago, still many people were swimming from the beach.

Thanks Mapism. All the more reason to look forward to next summer!

We have found out the Australian Wooden Boat Festival will be on 6th to 9th Feb. in Hobart, which is an excellent event and I'm sure you folks will really enjoy attending......amongst other things as well, of course! :)

Many thanks C, that's an amazing coincidence, and sounds great fun indeed!
I just found their website (www.australianwoodenboatfestival.com.au) and subscribed to the newsletter, to get the full program as soon as it'll be available.
Shame that it's not exactly round the corner, I would have loved to bring also our timber tub to the show.... :D

Sorry to hear that, K.
But re. first hand experience, just say when for next season... :)

Btw, Pinnacle, of course the same goes for yourself and S, as you already know!

PS: I'm not mentioning Deleted User 'cause he'll be around here with his stunning vessel anyway, so he doesn't need any invitation...
..though it'll be a pleasure to catch up again, of course.

LOL, I must admit that this year we made no dives at all, B.
It's a shame, I know, but we did try to swim a lot - sometimes up to 80/90 minutes, non stop.
Which on one hand helped surviving the typical local dinners (which as you know aren't always 100% healthy... :o) without adding weight, but otoh paid dividends also in terms of resistance when snorkeling.
None of the clips were made with scuba tanks, and some of them were fairly deep (for my own standards anyway - I'm aware that some folks might laugh at my idea of "deep" freediving).
For instance, I'm not sure if you noticed the mooray in the center bottom area around 4'18": the beast was a solid 8 metres under the surface, if not a bit more... :)

Yep the plan is still a possibility for us as well.
Probably early season though unless I can find a good berth down there for the whole summer.
Hurricane, I took a flight down to Cagliari and hired a car for a couple of days in order to check out the marinas on the south side of Sardinia before I moved my boat down there. There are a number of options for mooring a boat with advantages/disadvantages depending on whats important to you and prices are lower than N Sardinia

Seconded 100%. Hurricane, feel free to ask for any further details you might be interested in, glad to help as much as I can.

Thanks for the reply
Several things to think about but the plan is starting to gather some momentum and interest from our family and friends.
I will PM you sometime for some suggestions.
Just received an email from a yachtie friend who is now in Cagliari and I know about three other boats from SC headed that way last summer.
We will probably look for a few months berthing - depending on costs etc.
Air travel seems a bit tricky - having been there, we like Carloforte - how would we, friends and family get to and from the airport?
Not saying that it would happen that often, but for us to operate in the same way as we have been doing in Mallorca, we would need to get people out to us and back again.
Thats not a "show stopper" though - it would just mean that we would have to change the way that we do things.

Where are you planning on berthing?
