A sad tale in their somewhere. Glad it did not happen at a time when there was a crowd of folk in there, but what a mental waste.

Yes, the poor bloke is obviously ill and needs help not punishment...in fact there was a family living at the club and there at the time apparently, but nobody was hurt.

As one reads more details, it's just very very sad; and there doesn't seem to be any dispute to have caused it, the poor bloke just lost it - maybe he had just enough control left not to do it at a busy time.

I think that's pretty cruel and unnecessary; it doesn't seem the chap was out of control of the car, but his faculties; reading the reports he is a very well liked person who has crumbled under losing his wife, his boat, his health and was in the middle of moving house alone - a pretty hard set of adversities for any human being.

He is an ex navy Captain, has been a member of the club for two years and has lived in Emsworth for twenty years. His wife has recently died and he is down sizing his house to a cottage near the sailing club. Apparently he was depressed, which wouldn't be surprising.
