Fellow Emsworth sailors may care to take a look at a thread on the Motorboat Forum, where we are under attack for getting in the way of large powerboats!
Not sure I would call it an attack as such, more an opinion that can be agreed or disagreed with.
Unfortunately whatever hobby, pursuit or sport you enjoy you will always have people who either through lack of experience, difficult conditions or pure bad manners cause issues. IMHO I have seen far less of it from the boating/sailing fraternity thankfully than in other walks of life. I had an incident with a dinghy sailor on the Thames who cut across my bow so close that I was convinced he would not reappear. He did thankfully and obviously knew exactly how to handled his dinghy and how late he could leave it. Fine for him but scared me half to death and I was following the correct course and had reduced my speed. I also had an incident with a motorboater who decided overtake me way in excess of the speed limit on a bend causing so much wash my 8 year old was thrown sideways. However this does not cause me to tar everyone with the same brush. There are friendly, polite motorboaters, sailors, canoeists as well as unfriendly, rude and ignorant ones. I always take as I find and if I have made an error will ensure if possible I apologise.
I hope the post does not degenerate into a raggie, mobo tit for tat arguement. We all share the same waters from time to time and they are niether your waters nor ours but everyones and long may that remain.
