I was irritated yesterday during a few days cruise around Chichester harbour . I had pre- planned to stop by Emsworth to get some provisions, have a decent breakfast and saunter round the attractive village during the two hours stay allowed on the jetty. However I was informed on my arrival that only 1/2 hour was allowed during the midsummer busy high season and a small sign was shown which I assume detailed this change. I insisted upon doing the planned activities but was disappointed at the lack of welcome shown. There were only two other vessels on the jetty at the time although the 'commercial' vessels i.e. 'Terror' the Solar pleasure cruiser and the ferry were apparantly due to arrive shortly. Perhaps the Harbour Conservancy should include such changes in its weekly bulletin. After all what can you do in 30 minutes after you have secured your boat properly?
(p.s. in the title for 3 1/2 read 2 hours)
