Emsworth Channel - lots of empty moorings..??

I get the impression that is the case in most places; the days of waiting lists for moorings or full marinas are over !

I agree, we had been waiting to get into a Marina on the Dart for years, almost no chance when we started on the list some 4/5 years ago as no-one ever left!. But we shot up the list over last two seasons and now have a space. It was the same when I wanted to get into Brixham some 8/9 years ago, now there are spaces if you want one.

Just back from an enjoyable morning pootling about in the Emsworth Channel..

Is it me or are there a lot of empty moorings this year???
It didn't seem to stop them putting their prices up though, both Chi and Langstone did that this year I noticed.

What's the best way to access the Emsworth channel anyway, does anyone know ? AIUI, Langstone has parking and dinghy chains at the Harbour Office but is there an equivalent for Emsworth ?

Thanks,

Boo2

There are Conservancy dinghy chains at Emsworth, but Parking is well nigh impossible, as the local Council car park has just this spring become Short Stay, max 4 hours. Local shop keepers are up in arms about it too. Street parking is time limited, and only when you get in to the residential area north of the A 259 is there any chance of finding a possible long term space.

Boo2,

what sort of boat ?

Best way to access the Emsworth channel, is, strangely enough, from Emsworth. There are dinghy chains at the quay or at the service pontoon on the harbour wall. Access for a dinghy is fine HW+/-3.5hrs. Sid the harbour master is great & runs a ferry HW+/-2hrs.

Spiffing, but as mentioned nowhere to park.

There's a half tide public slip and unlimited free car park by the Ship Inn, Langstone village ( just short of the road bridge to Hayling Island ) and a slip at Northney Marina with parking, but that's still tidal and there's a fee.

Half the boats in my club are still on dry land. Whenever people start thinking about launching, one of the ones already out gets damaged by the ridiculous weather and puts everyone off!
