Hi all,

My ignition barrel has gone dippy on my port engine.

Volvo penta KAD32

Starts fine

Runs fine

Stops fine

But i have to hold the key slightly clockwise to get the charging voltage, oil pressure and outdrive trim indicator to stay on.

Question is: is it just the dials or am I not charging?

Just about to get underway and don’t want to run into a problem. Not going far or for long.

I have rigged a cable tie to keep it in place for now.

Cheers all.

My guess is its just the gauges but do you have a multimeter? One of my most used boat tools. If the batteries are charging they'll be >13volts (depending on revs, how charged they are etc). If they are not charging and haven't been on charge recently they will be <13V.

That sounds like a great place to start thanks, i will get one on board!

The trip went well with the switch held in place with a cable tie!!! 🤣

New switches on order, surprisingly cheap too!
