With the rapid changes in the conditions of the non-tidal Thames its makes sense to receive email alerts when the EA publish any changes to the conditions (the EA used to provide this service but no longer do so).
Instead, you can sign up for alerts when the conditions change at any number of locations on the river (typically the locks between which you are moored).
Go to the support site for the River Thames Guide App, click 'River Conditions' and follow the instructions.
