EM-TRAK B952 NMEA connection with Raymarine C80

I would like to feed AIS data to C80 and get all data from C80, e.g. wind, to AIS. Then multiplex it via wifi/usb to PC. Seems trivial task, but it just doesn't work. Both units updated to the latest available FW.

Connection is as follows:

AIS------------------------C80
BROWN TX OUT + ---> WHITE RX IN +
WHITE RX IN + <------- YELLOW TX OUT +

ALL 4 NMEA- TO GROUND
BLUE TX OUT - ////////// BROWN TX OUT -
GREEN RX IN - ////////// GREEN RX IN -

If I set data BAUD to 38800 on both, C80 get AIS data, but AIS does not receive any from C80, e.g. MWV.

If I set data BAUD to 4800 on both, then C80 does not get AIS data, but AIS multiplexes C80 data to PC just fine.

Please help me to sort out this puzzle.

This won't affect your main problem but you should wire the data negatives same as for positives, not to ground. The signal is the difference on the +/- pair, not +/ground.

Check the manual but at a guess, I'd say the C80 simply doesn't output NMEA data at 38400 and (correctly) will only receive AIS at 38400.

With only one port on C80, you are a bit stuffed.

Works okey with NMEA- TO GROUND.

I have tested C80 with NMEA to USB cable and strangely it outputs just $ECMWV Wind Speed and Angle. No other data on NMEA.

Autohelm NMEA outputs below data and it displayed on C80 (so this data is present on Seatalk).

$IIHDM Heading, Magnetic
$IIHDT Heading, True
$IIVTG Track Made Good and Ground Speed
$IIGLL Geographic Position-Latitude/Longitude
$IIHDG Magnetic heading, deviation, variation
$IIBWC Bearing and Distance to Waypoint

Paul may be able to confirm or correct, but I can't see anywhere the Emtrak device you have outputting anything on WiFi other than its own AIS and GPS data. I have a Vesper Marine XB8000 and it does put a limited set of data received from N2k and all data received on NMEA0183 out on WiFi.

Yeah, em-trak plan to implement multiplexing in the future, but it's still in testing.

The two NMEA 0183 ports are multiplexed, so anything received on port one is transmitted on port two and vice-versa.

Data from both NMEA ports is sent over Wifi, along with AIS and GPS data.

Data from both NMEA ports is sent via USB, along with AIS and GPS data, provided the feature has been enabled by sending two commands to the AIS using the ProAIS2 software.

No NMEA 2000 data is multiplexed at present, but an update is currently being tested to enable this.

The em-trak B952 and the VM XB8000 do not have screens. Another display unit is needed; in my setup the XB8000 passes data to the boat PC and to the networked cockpit instruments. Most of the data is also on the WiFi output and can be used by tablets or smart phones.
