Have you tried following the motor cable from were it comes through the transom, normally only a few foot of cable inside boat. The connector may be a 6 way inline plug and socket type.

Is there not a length of plastic trunking across the transom from the area behind the top of the engines, or thereabouts. If so, pop off the cover by starting at one end of the trunking.
Then carefully look in the location where you think the trim tab wire enters the boat from the outside. You will be looking for a round cable. It may have a Sealine Factory fitted connection plug on the end instead of the end plug that came with the trim tab.
Incidentaly, all the loom to the helm eventually runs up and along the starboard side of the boat / engine room.

If you need to remove the wire through the transom then tape a thinner cord before you pull it out to assist in re-inserting the wire through.
If you need to remove the pins / lugs of the wire ends from the wire connection block then get a small panel pin and just push the tang in on the side of the pin gently and the pins will come out of the connector. Remember to take a picture before to remind yourself of the pin and wire colours layout.

Hope this helps and good luck.

P.s. any parts then try nick @ seabridge as he is sealine man thru and thru.

sounds like your doing what I need to do, a few days ago I posted for help on this subject for my sealine 290 ammbassador, I have that trunking at the rear of my engine bay but have a hell of a job getting to it, I cant see where the trim tab motor wires come into the hull, have spent quite a while looking, the only place i can think is in that trunking somewhere, so somehow I have to get that off to have a look, also people say there should be a (choc box) I guess they mean a conector box, somewhere along the line but I cant see one. I aim to get new tab motors to put on when I take her out shortly, how Im going to conect them up I dont quite know yet, might have to put some sought of conection box in myself.

Hey, don't pull all the trunking off - just the trunking lid as I said. It could well possibly be that the wire enters through the back of the trunking from memory. Usually the wires are labelled near their respective plugs with their functions too which helps.

Good luck.

The following covers most boats, there may be odd balls.

Boats with three battery banks ( 2 engine and a service ) will have a choc block connector on the transom around the stern drive.

Boats with two battery banks ( engine and serices from one bank ) will have a plug and socket.

They changed around 1990 when Sealine went onto pre-making looms for the boat. The 290 sat across the boundry, and could have either.

The wire from the motor used to be grey, with 5 cores that had id numbers printed on, 1-5. It is easier to start where the cable comes through the transom, as this is a known point, and follow the cable to the connector as it was not long.
