According to the Ellen Macarthur myth, she is supposed to have bought her first boat by saving her pocket money, thereby showing early dedication to sailing etc, etc.

Does anyone know how much pocket money she got, and how much the boat cost? I've been saving my pocket money for years, and don't have enough to pay for an anchor at the moment.

It wasn't just her pocket money - it was her lunch money, and was therefore embezzled. She just had the mash and gravy at school.

Do you feel like a diet? Have you thought of a career in embezzlement? If you're particularly smooth you could go all the way, and persuade a DIY store to buy a boat for you.

In the meantime you'll just have to dream about that Blue Peter dinghy.

That explains her small stature, I suppose, undernourishment. If she'd gone cruising instead of racing then at least she'd have had the benefit of Furai Bentosu Pies. They put the hairs on your chest /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Incidentally I have just read the Private Eye before last (or possibly the one before that) which a colleague brings in to work for those of us too mean to buy our own. The "Apparently" cartoon features Day Mellon, RTW yachts and their sponsors. I like "M&S, just like B&Q but 3 months behind". The ikea one is too complicated to explain in words.

Despite having shared so much with her via the wonderful documentaries I don't remember having seen the Day Mellons, so I don't think we can assume they are hairless.

Actually its true - your hairs may not be as thick or obvious as ours but you have more!! The female is hairier than the male in all parts!!
Do you want to do a comparative count??!!
