Well if you're a member of the EOA you'll already know, but we're having a Raleigh (an Elizabethan Rally) on the south coast at Shephard's Wharf, Cowes this weekend so if there are any Lizzy owners (from 23' to 35') who'd like to meet the rest of us, please email the secretary (address on the website) and/or come along.
On a personal note, especially any other 29 owners as we are usually under represented and I've got a lot of beer to get through.
Dave

Fortunately, the respective members are unlikely to confuse the two events.

Oh! Achly, come to think of it! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't think there is too much danger of confusion. One is a rally for proper boats with a pedigree and the other a gathering of marinised bathroom fittings. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Ex Liz30 owner (Callisto Of Parkstone, K2953).

I couldn't agree more, even the modern designs like the liz 30 are quite good looking. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I think I'm right in saying that Callisto is still in the EOA (the real one), pictures are usually posted on the website after a suitable interval. Our Commodore, Ian, keeps his Liz 30 (Mistweave) somewhere in that vicinity, I believe.

Actually, if the Etap owners are anything like us there is a grave danger of becoming dazed and confused for both weekends. With any luck.

I'll choose not to rise to that one as it is clearly intended to stir it up!

What do you sail now Robin? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Caught red handed, it was indeed a wind up for a post hijacker!

I now sail a Sun Legende 41, a very fast Doug Peterson cruiser/racer from Jeanneau, 1988 vintage. Better than the one seen below which is an earlier version but the only pics I had easy to link to. It doesn't have built in buoyancy Etap style for when it sinks but has a Kevlar (the stuff of bullet proof vests) layup so it is less likely to need it. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The original 'Legende' was a French Admiral's Cup Team member.

With apologies to Dave for even more thread drift, but best wishes to the Elizabethan Owners for a good Rally weekend, great boats one and all.

As a new owner of an old Elizabethan 30 I would love to come down, hopefully Ian Stockdale has my money by now, but I am at the Sussex 20/20 match on Friday, not playing, guest of a box holder, so could be unwell come Saturday! Howsoever, I would love to have a peek around other 30s, is that an option if I turn up on Saturday unshaven and smelly (and possibly still a bit hungover)?

I used to own an Elizabethan 31 called Lizelle (now re-named) I sailed her for over 10 years and she taught me how to sail single handed and go anywhere.. Look back on her with great affection. An excellent boat. I wish you well with the 'Elizabethan Raleigh' and will be there in mind - thinking of all the good times that boat gave me.

Sorry for the late reply, work intervened again.

/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I think you would it in perfectly, if Friday evening goes as planned. The Friday evening programme consists of alfresco Fish and chips, drinks, and a "lurch through the Cowes watering holes". I know Ian and some others will be there for Thursday evening, most of us are arriving Friday and staying 'til Sunday morning. Call in to "Evadne" for a livener or cup of tea if you make it.
