Electrician with MASE genny experience needed

My Mase 240v generator has stopped producing power. The engine runs OK and I have checked all the obvious points. It's time for an expert. Can anyone point me towards a likely one not too far from Southampton please?

Thanks for your advice David but checking 240v components is beyond my knowledge and way outside my comfort zone!

Friend of mine had the same problem. After going all through the system the capacitor that does the initial excitation was "charged" as instructed in the workshop manual and found to be defective. Owner contacted Mase agent and new capacitor was sent next day. Fitted it, charged it up and no problems ever since.

From memory the charging was done by connecting the capacitor accross a 12 volt source for a couple of seconds. After charging the capacitor should hold about 7 volts (I think) when checked with a volt meter.

check the wires & contacts with the generator off, as the terminal tags frequently snap, at the terminal box at the generator end, often because the installer cant get the same grade tags as the MFR.

Thanks Chris, even with my limited ability I think I can manage to either test or at least change those aluminium "battery" looking things.

Don't mind playing with 12v!
