New to me boat mix of deck plugs and straight thru wires. Difficult for riggers to take mast down if no key to below. Looking around everyone seems different. Thinking of putting all the stainless swan neck to junction box below. Anyone done this and worked o k? Thankyou.

I went with an alternative to a single swan neck and used the Cableport.

It seemed a lot flatter design, less of a trip hazard (in fact you can stand on them quite happily) and pretty much zero chance of any genoa sheets or other lines catching on them and the cables appear horizontally giving even less chance of wires catching on things.

Looking at the svb website, there's even a video and a link to the manual.

Just done it and used a bank of Wago connectors with labels and colour coded down below. Have also used Blue Sea connector blocks in the past. Once the cables are cut to length to fit neatly difficult to get it wrong. Mine are located directly below the mast step in the loo compartment but I have seen others that lead the cables lower down into a locker. The cable port is an alternative to the swan neck.

Thanks for the very helpful replies.
One thing might be worth saying.
Down below.under deck stepped mast was lots of moisture where cables meet. Thought it was a leak and applied hosepipes etc over a period. No leak found. Turned out to be condensation. Recent hot sun plus very cold deck. Bare fibreglass so will apply some lining.

I have one of these at the base of the mast which has lasted over 30 years. Held in by one small screw on the side and just pulls apart when required. Would love to find a supplier as I can use another.
