Hi,

Does anyone know where I can download a table of electrical (copper) wire gauge vs current draw and voltage drop to help me choose cable sizes for various installations I have planned ?

Thanks,

Boo2

Calculators like the one on the above site are useful.
Make sure however you know if they are based on the total positive plus negative wire length or just the single distance. ( most in fact require the total of positive plus negative)

Here is a table that is sometimes easier to refer to http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/amps-wire-gauge-d_730.html

On the same site you will find resistance figures (ohms per 1000 m ) of various cable sizes.. http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/wire-gauges-d_419.html From those figures you can do everything by calculation.

Try this for currents over 70 amps. Its a real time calculator so you can also programme in the % volts loss from 1-5% and you get the AWG wire size and the cross sectional area in the result. BEWARE the cable length you enter here is only the length from source to load.

That's a good one... Id lost the link to it
