Anybody know if you can buy these things?

What I am talking about is a rectangular nylon type plug that connects to the radio.Within it are three female connectors that are soldered to the ships supply.
I have managed to extract them but one is pretty much beyond repair. They are 22mm long & push into 4mm diameter holes.

Optimistically Nicholas :D

Assuming you mean a car-type VHF radio, rather than a marine short-range VHF fixed set  then Halfords sell such connectors.

Sorry I've deleted it because I can't seem to get a hang of this Linux operating system. In photobucket it dos'nt copy links. In Flixr if copies a link to the whole photo stream.

I'll try again some other time.

Well I did see you picture ! Briefly, then it disappeared!

It looked similar to the one for my VHF except that is moulded onto the wires and only has two wires connected.
I forget where bought it.

It may have been from a cb radio shop ( I know I did buy one or two odds and ends there around 30 years ago). It may have been from a small shop that ordered stuff from RS for people or it may have been from Tandy.

It's similar vic except the pins are equidistant & the end is sort of triangular.Try this https://www.flickr.com/photos/38909344@N08/14978265472/

Simplest answer is to cut off the connector on both the radio and the supply end. Use crimp type knife, bullet or handshake connectors to make a removable connection for both wires. If the radio connector is not on the end of leads but is mounted on the case then you might have to open up the box and wire 2 new leads fromn the inside of the connector or direct onto the pins.
To be foolproof have a different style connector for +ve and -ve. good luck olewill
