I am having problems with the engine electrics interfering with the depth sounder. The engine is an old two stroke with coil ignition. Last year I fitted a 3.3 suppressor (dont know what units it is measured in) between the positive terminal on the coil and earth and it stopped all problems although I didnt use it much after that. This year it didnt seem to be working so I bought and fitted a new one. This time the engine would not work, no spark when the suppressor is conected. I then fitted a suppressor rated at 1, no spark and then tried a new one rated at 3.3, still no spark. Do I need to try a different rated suppressor or would a simple plug cap suppressor work? Getting in and out of the creek at Gibralter point I need both engine and echo sounder. Does anyone out there understand electrics? I would be grateful for any advice.
