Have been sent back to uk to purchase final spares for long trip. On list is set of large elctrical crimpers, suitable for DC battery connections etc. Anyone any idea where I can find these, so far only ordinary ones to be found

bought mine from W F Grant (large electrical wholesale chain) they cost around £16.

any large electricians' suppliers should have or be able to get them, possibly also motor factors.

they have a projecting pin which is forced into the side of the connector making a big dent. i think they do 10mm & 16mm connectors. we also bought a range of connectors quite cheaply. the nomenclature for the connectos is 2 numbers so 10/8 means a connector for 10mm wire drilled for an 8mm bolt.

hope this is useful.

Merlin do a range of crimpng tools. The problem is that the ones big enough for the battery terminal size cable are very expensive and you only need them for a few connections. (I bought the smaller ones for regular size crimps and ended up soldering the large cables into their lugs with a blow torch)

If the long trip kit already includes a vice....you could save money/space by tracking down ones that are just dies & don't have the big handles.
