hi all,

any advice muchly appreciated, after spending 2 weeks on board, the last day and the rev counter starts going haywire? swiftly followed by the voltmeter dropping to 10/11 volts all three warning lights glowing? then it goes ok for a bit, seems to be happening every 10/15 seconds and lasting bout 5 seconds.. ive checked most wiring and all seems in good nick, ive taken alternator to be checked on bench and its ok? but still going to strip down and check. also oil pressure buzzer does'nt work? engine is volvo ad41. thanks in advance

Has to be the main earth somewhere, odd that so many things gang up on you at once??

Main earth common to all

Check the voltage at the panel to see if the drop is real (which it likely is) and then check same in engine bay. If it remains OK in the bay whilst showing low at helm, as per previous post, a bad earth is the most probable cause. If that is the case, the easiest solution would be to run a new earth (use multistrand wire to tolerate vibration). Good luck!
