Interesting. We have a manual Jabsco pumping to a holding tank, then a macerator pumps out via a 1/2" seacock. I'd previously considered installing an additional alternative direct-to-sea outlet to avoid unnecessarily filling the tank while at sea, but that would require a 1 .5" seacock . If I understand correctly the electric versions include a macerator so could pump via the existing small seacock if required?

Yes that is the same system I have at the moment but can also pump from the holding tank out of the boat.
The electric toilets do have a built in macerator,the ones I am going to fit are the Dometic Fresh water flush ones and they have a multi blade stainless steel macerator unlike the Jabsco so should make a good job of dealing with the waste.

You might want to think abut keeping one manual. That way, you're OK if there's a power supply problem.

Exactly what we did for the reasons described, although if we had a genny installed I would have fitted two electrics. Fitted a Jabsco Quiet Flush and it has been fine - but not exactly quiet.

The Jabsco manual to electric conversion kit is by all accounts rubbish.

Make sure that you calculate the correct size of cable as it has to be quite substantial especially for long cable runs.

I have decided to fit just one for the time being and see how we get on with it.

Going to fit the Dometic Fresh water flush 722005 and I will report back my opinion of it as soon as operational.

Currently have the Jabsco unit with the bolt-on electric adaptor... it works , but my word it's noisy!
Without going to the expense of the Tecma/Planus and unable to find space for a remote flush pump it appears to come down to the Jabsco Lite flush or the Force 4 Comfort made by 'Ocean technologies' at half the price.
Any recommendations?
Is the Lite Flush significantly quieter than the bolt-on adaptor?

I had a look at Tecma and Planus and they look very good but well over £1000 each

Worth every penny. You use the thing every day. How many boat things cost way more and get used once a year!

I had Tecma on my previous boat. Very good. Current boat has Jabsco, it feels a bit downmarket compared to the Tecma (I was going to say cheap until I realised it wasn't...) Far from silent in operation though.

Two toilets, changed to electric as soon as I bought the boat 20 years ago. Only downside is noise, the boat next door can hear when you go to the loo.

Earlier this year I removed the Jabsco electric pump and fitted the manual twist and lock pump. At £65 it was not much more money than the service kit for the electric pump.
Its been a great improvement in all respects. .........especially the relatively quiet operation.

Jabsco seems the most popular toilet by far.
An electric conversion kit is available for a baby blake.
Never been brave enough to enquire as to how much and have no idea what it looks like or how it works, but I do believe the manual parts of the toilet can still be used.
