Electric problem

My boat have a volvo 2001 fitted
The engine run ok and before to start the acoustic alarm rang before to start. Last weekend I painted the engine and when I started after the paint was dry the alternator didn't charge.
I stopped the engine and saw that there was a wire from the regulator that there was free. The wire is sort and only can reach the alternator. After to examine all the screws in the alternator the screw with a "+" had rest of wire. I connected the wire to this screw and when I turned on the circuit the temp, oil and charge light put on, but the acoustic alarm do not ring (the text button ring). I started the engine and the three lights turn off and the alternator charge perfectly, but I don't know if the acoustic alarm will ring if water or oil go wrong and I don't know if the connection is ok.
Thanks for your reply

I think you will find that you have disturbed more than one wire during painting on you motor.

You should check all connections and in paritcular try to get the buzzer / alarm circuit rectified, as if this does not work in test (switching), then the chances are it will not work when required.

Good luck

Thank for your reply

The buzzer work in test button when the wire is connected.
When I free the wire, the buzzer sound and panel lights are off before to start the engine and the alternator don't charge after start the engine.
I didn't see other free wire

You can test your overheat and oil pressure alarm while the engine is running. The transducers are only switches, so if you connect the wire running to them to earth, one at a time, they should indicate as if there was a problem.
