I've decided to buy an electric outboard. I don't want to mess around with battery clips, so I think the best way would be to have a battery box with a heavy-duty 12V connector (at least 40A) which either plugs into the outboard lead, or in parallel with my starter battery when charging - possibly via a relay or VSR.

Problem is, finding a suitable plug and socket. Any suggestions?

Fork lift truck connectors will handle the current. They are very robust but you would need to add waterproofing. They are also available on Ebay with tails.

For the money i would get the one on the for sale bit and clean/lube after it after each salt water use.As for connectors i'm still on a quest for some a bit like 'flymo' plugs.
