Would love to know what you all make of this remarkable new electric foiling sportsboat I tested in last month's issue of MBY...

Feel free to share with other non-boaty types too as it's the one new boat that really seems to catch everybody's attention.

Thanks

Hugo

It'll work until you get a load of weed around the foils(good kelp crop this year, it must like the heat), flotsam damage will make this one a rich man's plaything.

I didn't watch the video because the boat looks stupid!
Your mag should include more real world stuff for real world boaters, it's too full of way out of reach stuff.

Interesting to hear about this sort of thing, but it needs more range really, I guess it's a start though, but quite a way to go before the tech becomes mainstream and able to do what your average sports boat does.

Just been looking on the website, it's expensive isn't it?

And I wonder why the battery is so small compared to the batteries they use in electric cars,I wouldn't have thought the additional weight of a larger battery would affect things so much to make it unviable.

What's the range like if you can't use the foils? Either because it's too rough or you have a problem .

Nice presentation Hugo .Seen it around on social media but didn’t click on it .Thank you for bringing to our attention and raising its profile .
I like it and where its going .Agree a “ game changing boat “ on so many levels .

I think its brilliant.

The Cowes Torquay race was started in 1961 to further the breed and its fab to see innovation in motorboats continuing and especially the focus on efficiency.

Its certainly out of reach for me plus I'm a dyed in the wool traditionalist, but one day I'd love to have something like that.

I live and boat on those waters in Stockholm and see them out on tests a fair bit.

It's interesting tech, but I'm not so sure what real world use there would be for this type of boat, at least right now, maybe water taxi's or something along those lines, although I'm sure a few of the better off Stockholmers with villas in the archipelago would pick one up to get them back and forth.

While they look good, to me the support boat looks like it's enjoying the sea more and Hugo's expression shows a bit of a vanilla 'oh this is nice' kind of experience IMO.

I wakeboard and wakefoil and it's a great feeling being above the water, but you're so much more connected with your surroundings when you're on it, so I think on a boat it would be a bit of a novelty that I would quickly get bored of.

That said, I do love the evolution of the tech, and watching SailGP on foils is crazy!

Ticks all the boxes to make a desirable tender for a superyacht, or a way to get from your villa to the local michelin starred restaurant - but the experience looks really boring! As above, the chase boat is having more of what I would consider fun - what's the point of being on the water if there's no splashing about? Very cool though, and amazing how fast tech moves on.

That said - as a skint raggie, I'm really not the target audience

all very interesting,Hugo, thought seeing the comparisons with the Finmaster film boat riding the wake highlights a significant benefit of foils, but this is the early days of electric boats, just like Tesla with their original roadster. This tech will develop into some interesting although niche products.
