I am thinking of buying an electric heater with a thermostat for use in marinas. Any recommendations, please, for a cheap heater, either fixed or free standing? If the latter, it will have to stand being shaken about while sailing. I should be able to strap it down somewhere to stop it being thrown about.

Iv tried many & resorted to a fan heater when power is available eg marina. These are thermostatically controlled & instant.

Heaven is a boat called . . .

Fan heaters are fine but if the marina power voltage is low you will have problems with the fan also the constant noise of the fan stopping and starting during the night is a pain.
An oil filled heater such as a Delonginie will give a constant heat and is not affected with voltage drop. I would still have a fan heater for the quick heat up when you have just come into the marina

Try your local caravan shop and also try the link :

who do a range of flat panel jobs ..... small and large.

I normally use a 12.99 Argos thermostically controlled fan job, that left on low gives me good heating .... large volume motorsailer 25ft .... BUT I am thinking of changing to a panle job as shown there .... it's mounted and longer heating similar to a 'storage heater' ...... without overloading the wattage !
