Just seen this on BBC Click and I can see how this would be extremely useful for those of us with smartphones and tablets with Navionics or other Apps of note. The principle of the process is that the item is coated by a nano layer that has been designed to repel water molecules. This has no impact on the usability of the screens, buttons or sockets of the kit meaning that you are able to use the equipment without the bulky and very expensive cases - standfast the cases utility for protection against impacts.
It would appear that it is only available by mail order to the US at the moment, but I wonder how long it will be before we see the process integrated into the production lines of Garmin, or Standard Horizon...
