The increase in the level of business I am doing with Europe is welcome, but the extent to which the change from around E1.60 to E1.39 is going to have a reverse effect on our spending in Europe has I think been largely hidden by existing UK stock levels.
Last Friday I received notice that the COST price of a Steiner Commander V binocular goes up by a staggering £95 on Friday 11th July! This is an increase of something over 20% which probably involves a bit of catch up apart from the exchange rate. But still the percentage exchange rate change, which my poor maths thinks is about 13% must have an effect on everything we buy in Europe.
If you have plans to buy a new Merc, Renault, VW, Beneteau, Bavaria, etc. it would seem a good idea not to hang around, and if specifically you had been promising yourself a new Steiner it looks like you have five days in which to save some dosh.
