I live in Brisbane, Australia. My 30 foot yacht was built by Eduoard Richard of Marennes, France and launched in 1971. Anyone have any information about this shipbuilder? I have asked for this information on the Reader to Reader forum too.

Re: Pix of Eduoard Richard yacht

You need to post them on the web somewhere. Once you've done that, refer to them in your post like this.

[image=link] url [/image] = Makes the picture a clickable link.

If you don't have your own webspace, BoatOne provides free hosting here:-

But keep the size down, not fair to overload a free service!

<hr width=100% size=1>my opinion is complete rubbish, probably.

Chantier Edouard Richard built the Chassiron range of sailboats, including the following boats:
Chassiron Junior env. 7.5 m. (probably the one of the picture)
Chassiron CF env. 9.3 m. (CF for croisière Familiale) (sloop or cutter).
Chassiron GC env. 10.3 m. (GC for Grande Croisière) (ketch)
Chassiron RF 10.55 m. (sloop) The one I own since 1979.... and still going strong!
Chassiron GT env. 11.5 m. (ketch)
Chassiron TM env. 13.5 m. (ketch) and several versions like flush deck, or deck salon, etc.

The first three models above were built either with a wooden or a GRP hull. The deck and roof were always built of timber.
The other three models never had a wooden hull, but the deck and roof always were wooden.
The design is from the architects Joubert - Nivelt.

The Chantier desappeared in the mid 80's despite efforts of M. Peugeot, (from the cars) owner of one of the first TM, to save it.

The Chassiron had (and still have) a reputation of very well built boats, and were expansive compared to the then starting competition like Beneteau, Jeanneau etc.

That's it for the moment.
For more info, I would have to research, so please ask specific questions, and let me time till next week for answers.

Feel free to PM me for more info.

Paul
