I am in the process of changing my old INCASTEC Log for the NASA Clipper one. Unfortunately the hole in the hull for the Incastec unit (44.5 mm) is larger than that required for the NASA unit (42 mm). Would anyone know if I can use the old INCASTEC paddle transducer with the NASA log ? If they were compatable it would save me a lot of hassle.

If you have both why not just compare the two? If it fits all well and good. If not it's possible that someone is making a bronze one as stated in some of the posts recently talking about Nasa tubes and Sikaflex. Try contacting them and see if they can tailor make one to suit your needs, or do a similar thing with a local turning shop. Failing that glass in the 44mm hole and re-cut a 42mm one. Hope this helps.

Thanks reply. Can't compare as NASA paddle wont fit into old skin fitting. I was trying to avoid glassing present hole & cutting smaller one to fit NASA unit. Was talking to boat-yard owner today & he suggests the difference in hole sizes is so small as to make no difference. Just use plenty of good quality silicone & the flange on the fitting will be large enough to make a good seal. Think I might try this road. Waiting for weather to improve before starting work underneath the boat. If you ever had a lifting-keel boat you will know the difficulties of working underneath.

Re: echo sounder/NASA/CLIPPER

Search on the topic. Numerous discussions, and lot's of us affected. Perhaps NASA might even listen and offer a 'conversion' skin fitting..........surely they're main market is the retro-fit rather than new-build where bigger list means bigger profit.
