Echo sounder transducer

Hi Guys, my echo sounder transducer has packed up, it's a NavMan manufactured in New Zealand I understand that they are no longer in business, my question is can I use another make of transducer? Best Tony 07816337904.

Tony, you may be ok to use another make but it depends...

Most transducers are made by Airmar and rebranded for the main marine electronics companies, I don't know about Navman though. Most depth transducers are just piezoelectric devices tuned to either 200khz or 235khz but other frequencies may be used. You will need to identify what specific frequency your transducer operates at and then you could go and buy a generic transducer from say Airmar.

I have recently bought a new NASA target 2 depth sounder but used the transducer from the old one, so I have a brand new spare.
You could try it out to see if it works. We are both members of CBYC so I will contact you.
