I currently have a Seafarer 700 Echo Sounder in good working condition which is mounted close to the chart table. I would like to have a repeater display for the cockpit. The set itself has a port for a repeater however I dont suppose I can get hold of a Seafarer meter these days.

Can I buy any display and run it as a separate system off of the same transducer (150KHz), or do I need to find a display that is compatible and which can be plugged into the back of the main set? If so are there any displays currently for sale that are compatible?

Thanks

Ian

Thanks for the advice and Happy New year!

So to summarise, forget the Seafarer get a new system and run it of the original transducer, then get a repeater for the new system.

Cheers

I'm new to these forums so just picked up on this thread. I have a seafarer 700 and was wondering the same - can we wire in a new Nasa repeater into the old Seafarer? I would hate to have to go over to the digital-only stuff. The seafarer is a much safer piece of kit. When it's dark and rainy you can see the shallow alarm so easily and hear it too. Having used the digital readers they are a nightmare in bad conditions.
