My Eber works just fine but the noise the comes from the outlets is irritating. It sounds like a muted lawnmower spluttering away endlesslly.
Is this normal? This is internal, from the outlets noise, not the exhaust.
How might it be suppressed?

I wonder if your ducting is damaged in some way. Mine roars a bit when it's working very hard, but generally calms down to practically inaudible, once it's just maintaining the desired temperature.

Does the combustion air pipe have a little device fitted on the end, noise generated local to the heater can be carried up the warm air ducting ?

Something wrong there I reckon. I have an eberspacher in the van and a chinaspacher on the boat - neither makes a spluttering noise. Should be just a constant drone that rises or falls in pitch as heat level is altered.

Is it like a booming noise? If you listen to the burner unit, does it make a crackling sound. If yes, then it is water in the fuel, not much but enough to upset the running of the eber.

With my eberspacher I have to be very close to an outlet to hear any noise at all.

You don't say what boat it is installed in... maybe the hot air ducting is just quite short.

Do you have a "duct silencer"? With one of those installed inline, I'd not expect to hear much at all in the cabin although it might just hide the odd gurgly noises that could be symptoms of a problem :/
