Eberspachers Yet Again....

My eberspacher has stopped working, but you knew that already! Its a D1LC model, and has run fine all winter until now.

Ive tried the usual culprits, voltage is ok, checked wiring, cleaned glow plug and screen, etc. Heater did try to fire up once when i noticed it smoking white smoke where it wasnt firing up, but on its next attempt, everything stopped and now when the heater is turned on, the fan does not spin, just get the light on the modulator. It only tried once, so i very much doubt it has locked out, as you get 5 tries in total.

Any ideas from the panel before I whizz it down te service agents to part with some well earned beer tokens?

How strange a similar thing happened to mine. Was running it on the hard as the boat is out, small battery charger on. Ran fine for a while then suddenly stopped and now won't start. The controller lights, both red and green come on so it isn't the fuse I assume. As the fan never runs and it isn't even attempting to start up it cannot be locked out ?? Or can it ??Would a fuel blockage cause it to die in this way?? Also is there a fule filter in the little pump that one should clean?? I had the thing serviced about 18 months ago and have barely used it. Just run it now and again to give it a bit of exercise. Any advice appreciated.

I have just had my Webasto apart and after three days of buggering around got it working.

First thing is to check voltage and continuity through system -- on the mine the wires which run into the control box weren't very tight so I sorted that out. (didn't fix it!)

Does the fuel pump run?

Start up sequence is glowplug, fuel pump and then fan on mine

Check for little fractures in glow plug coil .. that can prevent starting.

Any heat from the plug? does the pump click?

Was told that if you fail to get it fired up a couple or three times the fuel that accumulates can be a real pain. especially if it soaks into any carbon deposit. in the chamber.

try sucking it out but usually you need to dismantle and rebuild.

I found my problem was the switch on the thermostat.. disammbled and clead up the contacts and it works again.

these things are law unto themselves so don't be suroprised if you hjave to get it sorted out by someone who knows.

Is this the season for it,? Ours has worked fine all winter til this morning. Symptoms - fan works, pump worked for a while but now doesn't, there is power at the unit but it just doesn't fire up.

Check your manual. Some units can be reset by switching on and off then on again.
