Hi even though I have already posted in the Wanted section, I am asking here just incase anyone missed it.
I was looking for a rotory control switch for an eber D3L heater, not the thermo type just the one with the, Vent at 1 oclock, Off at 3 oclock, heat at 4 oclock, and half heat at 5 oclock.
Thinking about it, its actually only the knob I am needing as it can be pulled out of the switch and my switch is ok one of the kids, or should I say teenagers naughtly tried turning it fruther than it should go and broke it. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
So if there is anyone out there with an old knackered switch I would be greatful if you would sell me the knob from it.
The knob has a white arrow in the centre which lights green when heater is turned on.
Thanks, C_W

I have a proper eber one, but it cost me £30! you can have it for that. It was new but i put the pigtails on the connector to try it out on a D2, I have been down the route of trying to get a knob, eber dont sell em separate.

Could you repair the knob by rebuilding it in epoxy? Lightly grease the brass stem & build up epoxy putty round it then force the broken knob over the putty. Th idea is that the putty will stick to the inside of the broken knob & form itself around the shaft. You should be able to drill thro' the putty to insert a self-tapper as a grub screw if necessary.

I have done this sort of "temporary" repair on knobs before & found it has lasted for years.

Thanks Searush.
The knob has a plastic hollow spindle which goes in through the switch the reason for hollow is that there is a bulb at the back end of switch and the light passes to the front face of the knob through the hollow spindle which has a wall thickness of about 1mm, unfortunatly its this spindle that has sheered across.
Thanks, C_W

Cant believe it, I turned the knob to check the clicks and the white tube bit shattered!! Have managed to pick all the bits out of the control, will look at in the workshop tomorrow to see if i can come up with a fix

Just delivered a boat from Falmouth to Clyde - same switch, same problem - used a piece of dowel whittled to fit. IMHO it is a crap design. Are there any maker's marks on the switch 'cos it won't have been made by Eber and may be available elsewhere.

My switch is genuine eber but I guess the market will be flooded with cheap aftermarket switches now.
I reckon its the age and the heat from the wee bulb at the back of switch that is causing the plastic to go brittle and am reckoning it might have broke the last time I switched it off unknown to me cause the family all swear they never even touched it.
I can see me salvaging a Bic pen or something like that to improvise.
I think Hella made some of the electrical componants for ebers.
