Eberspacher/Webasto Header tank

Anyone got any idea where I can get a reasonably priced header tank for a Websato hot water heating system? The only one I've managed to find so far is Eberspacher one at around £80!

I guess I could use a car one but they all seem to be strange shapes.

Look at one from a Renault Megane [older shape], they are quite small oval shape with fixing bracket moulded in. Probably get one for a couple of quid at the scrap yard.

Talk to Toby Hague of Keto Marine www.keto.co.uk the webasto water system he supplied me had a very small tank. I'm pretty sure it was from a car in a former life.

Any time I try to get one of these from ASAP they are out of stock!

The suggestion of car scrappy is OK for an engine header but for a heating system it may not work. A wider tube is needed to connect to the system (and that as near vertical as possible) if airlocks on filling are to be avoided.

Finally, the header tank that was installed in my system is a crappy mild steel version that is rusting internally. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hi, if you have a fresh water cooled engine, you could tee the heater circuit into the engine cooling system and then the engine header tank will do the job. Also, spare heat from the engine will heat your hot water system and the heater can warm up the engine before starting in cold weather.
