I posted similar last month, just one reply but I thought I should try to solicit further confirmation before blowing up my new pump!!
I believe that my old water pump has packed up. On inspection I confirmed that it has a small impellor driven by some kind of magnetic drive. There are two leads going into the pump one brown and one black (becoming black and white). Is it reasonable to apply 12 volts to these and expect to see the impellor spin?? I have bought a new pump and want to check it before installation.
Out of interest it does seem a small pump to drive water round a vehicle engine and heater matrix?
Most grateful for any advice.
Regards Peter

I would try 12 volts across the pump, but put a small fuse in circuit ( say 2 amp) to give a safety margin. I wouldn't imagine that these pumps run at less than 12 volts. Is it a DW5 with internal pump, or DW10 with an external pump?

Peter
