I am trying to get to grips with the heat control on eberspacher air heaters ( particularly the D2)
Most of them seem fitted with a heat control knob or setting and rely on a heat sensor to maintain this set temperature.
In some situations an actuall room thermostat is prefered.
I can only find one control switch with an actual thermostat in it but have aquired an eberspacher external thermost which I guess can be used with the other control devices.
Just wiring it up is my problem.
The ordinary control devices seem to use the red/grey and the brown/white leads to inform the sensor and the thermost device uses an additional ( grey ) lead.
The leads on the supplied thermostat are brown and white and I am at a loss as to how to wire this in, I guess that the sensor in the heater has to be bypassed and the control knob has to send the setting info to the supplied thermostat.
Has anyone done this or can throw a bit of light on the subject?
Regards Peter

i use a 7 day timer (ebay from sarkblue), it has the control knob on it but no thermostat sensor, i bought a sensor (hard to find right value of thermistor) and added it to the terminals at the back, it was the only way i found of bypassing the internal sensor on the control board. the heater is a d1lcc;;;;;;;

just been looking on the technical website and i see they have updated most of their manuals, the 7 day timer wiring instructions now dont mention the external sensor or the remote control. they do however tell you how to reset the fault codes.

Thanks Steve, I have the 7 day timer but no diagram for adding the thermostat. I am sure that the grey lead from the heater has to be used in some way. I had the idea that the red/grey or brown/white had to be disconnected from the internal sensor and fed through the remote thermostat but not sure at all.
I presume that you added your thermo via leads into the 12 pin timer plug? can you recall which ones?
Regards peter

Friends of mine have just removed a control with a built in stat and replaced it with a 7 day timer which has no inbuilt stat. They then ordered a room temperature sensor from Eberspacher and it connects to a dedicated two pin connector on the loom just as it leaves the heater control box. Not sure of the heater model though.
