I recently bought a second hand Eberspacher diesel heater, but I need a skin fitting for the exhaust. I contacted eberspacher UK they informed me the price was £116! Why? Has anybody got a picture/drawing of one so I can make one from stainles. Is £116 a good price or am I just being tight?

Thanks

If you think the skin fitting is expensive, don't think about replacing the insulated exhaust hose! £150 plus Vat for 2m.!!!

They corrode very easily and fall apart letting exhaust gases escape inside the boat.

I agree with you about eberspacher fittings. I purchased a second hand heater which didn't have the skin fitting. I do not have drawings but it was relatively easy to make. Two lengths of stainless steel tube, one 1" dia the second 1.5" dia, a stainless plate and a reducing disc. The lot were welded using a stick welder and AC/DC stainless rods. I pickled it to clean it up and it is now fitted. I was able to vary from the original eberspacher down angle and make it to fit the sloping side of the coachroof. The main difficulty was the cutting of the oval hole in the outer plate and fabricating the reducing ring.

I have been in exactly the same situation. I ended up drawing one up and getting it made by a friend. Their fitting is a double skinned stainless one which prevents the very hot exhaust gases melting the hull. You could make one your self from a stainless water filler and some stainles tube.
I will see if I can find my drawing.
