Mine was playing serious silly buggers. I'd booked a service for the next week or so, but it was brass monkeys at the weekend, and it wouldn't light, so I stripped it myself.

There's very little to them, really - a glow plug, combustion chamber, some fans. I removed a huge chunk of carbon from inside the combustion chamber and decoked it thoroughly, then put it all back together. Reconnect the wiring loom, and Hey Presto! it still wouldn't work.

as has been said, piece of p to strip, there is nothing to them.
first thing to check is that the pump clicks when you initiate the light up, if it isnt then the logic could be locked up, if it is clicking take out the glo plug and check it that the coil isnt broke etc, if you look in the threaded bit of the housing you will see a small hole about 1/8th wide, this is where the pump pumps the diesel thru, it then drips onto the gauze and is then ready for vapourizing and burning. get a piece of flexible wire and check that it is clear. also check the little gauze filter in the pump (take of the nuts and you will find it on the suction side)
if you want to do a decoke, get a gasket set in case you break the old one, along the side of the plastic casings you will see 3 plastic rivets each side. get a pin punch and tap the middle of them, you will be able to push the little locking pins thru to the inside of the casings, make sure you dont lose them, once you have the plastic casings off you can see the screws that hold the fan assembly on, take them off and you can get the fan assembly off and get into the combustion chamber, clean out the crap etc.and then re assemble

You can strip and clean (de-coke) and clean the filter on the pump yourself and replace Glo-plugs, but fault finding unless you have a modern one with diagnostics on the electronic control is difficult. If it aint broke don't mend it.
Most Eber agents simply replace the suspect bits in order to determine the fault which is OK if you have a spare everything but NBG for you and me....
