I've not done much to mine (yet) apart from some rewiring to make it work. It's about the same vintage. I did see some good posts on this subject a while back so perhaps it's worth a search?

I downloaded a detailed workshop manual from Espar - haven't got the address but I am sure you will find it through Google. I think they are the US subsidiary.

If you are any where near the Ipswich area, Company called DIESCO are exceeding good....Labour charge @ £35.00 per Hour.. Carry most spares on van and are quick & efficient.

I serviced mine last year,DC3L. Main problem was getting the glowplug screen out, accumulated burnt residue behind prevents removal. Had to destroy it to get it out. Replacement screen from Lucas about £12.00 , suggest you get new before tackling old. Otherwise clean glow plug and dislodge residues, blown out the back on next start up. Good luck.

Would second comment about Diesco very good just fitted an Airtop D4 for me.

Interestingly in the service schedule it states that the heat exchanger has to be changed after 10 years due to EU law.

I took mine apart...

I took mine apart and serviced it a few years ago. The exploded diagram was very useful, but otherwise if you're reasonably practical it's not too difficult. However, when reassembling mine I managed to drop it and smash one of the end mouldings, so had to get a replacement part!

If you decide to take it to a "proper man", I'd suggest any of the commercial vehicle diesel specialists - they usually do Eberspacher servicing (at non-marine prices) because many trucks are fitted with them.

I see you are in Fleetwood, I have found this company in Ellesmere Port who specialise in wagons and commercials to be very helpful.

TCL
0151 3552101 I,S S
Rossfield Road, Rossmore Trading Estate, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire

Don't forget the heater has a 6 no start lock, if you fail to start after six attempts (I think its 6) you will have to get the heater unlocked by a specialist. So once you have rebuilt if you diy, be careful if it does not start straight back up.

Hi I have downloaded the service manual from the site mentioned but unfortunatly my heater is too old and is not covered, it doesnt appear to have a guase around the glow plug just a plug screwed in. so I will try it with a new one although apart from a bit coked up it looks fine.
