On the last couple of times ive used the heater, the unit has been switched on and starts up normally with no issues. The heater will then continue to run, slow down and eventually cut out when the boat is upto temperature - all as per normally.

After a period of time, the boat cools and the thermostat calls for the heater to restart, but all that happens is the fan spins up to full speed, and stays like it, just recirculating the air. Switching the control off stops the heater as it should, but when the heater is restarted, the fan spins up to full speed, but the heater never attually performs an actual startup attempt. If i leave the heater to cool right down, the above senerio is repeated - normal start followed by this problem.

Anyone got any clues before removing it and hitting it with a large hammer?

Regards
Alex

I cannot recall an occassion when mine cuts down on auto when the thermo is set to max. i usually have to turn the thermo down and then switch off manually.

That said I always run mine at max then off, never used it on the thermo with the thing cutting in and out.

There are no error messages being displayed, but then i had retrofitted a eberspacher thermostat in place of the original timer, so im not sure that it ever would.

I do have a full set of gaskets and some other spares, so will start to delve in further. If i cant get it working it'll end up going! Its now over four years old, had no issues at all for the first 3 years use, then last winter it started to play up and has spent more time not working than it has working!

The previous D1LC never had any trouble, only got rid of it as it was a bit worn out and the motors had packed up!
