Eberspacher Pipes

I am looking to replace the Exhaust and Combustion Air Intake of my D1L heater and got a quote today for new pipes. £110, for two 1 m pipes. A bit steep I thought. Sure, the exhaust is fire resistant etc but...

I'm interested to know if anyone of you learned folks have another suggestion, one that that works, is safe but leaves my wallet intact.

Have been through exactly the same exercise! Why do manufacturers (especially of yacht products) think we're all gullible and pay out extortionate amounts for expendable parts having already paid a fortune for the product in the first place.
It seems especially a pity when the product...like the eberspacher... is basically good.

The unusual 32mm I/D flexible stainless is difficult to source, though Kruger can supply it. You'd then of course have to make up the ends. I was quoted about £20/metre. The intake hose is just any suitable rubber pipe.

I intend making up a new exhaust with what's left of the old pipe/fittings with some rigid pipe inbetween. (my old flexible failed where moisture collected at the bottom bend). Any genuine experts out there who can give a vailid PRACTICAL reason why I should not use copper? (talking 5 years or so.... not 20+).
Of course, all joints etc have to be 100% gas tight.

BTW, the motor is an even more horrific price .... but it is repairable with effort.

It's been said here before, but is worth repeating. The main market of Eberspacher and other heaters is trucks. Look in yellow pages, or other sources, for a company that deals with this sector. www.eberspacher.com lists dealers, some of whom appear to be a long way from the sea. Most of the ancillary equipment for Eberspacher is available at a fraction of the cost charged by the boat fraternity. This does include the hoses but not the skin fitting.

I've been looking for a site with Eberspacher info. I've looked at the one you recommended and have downloaded the relevant manual. Thanks for the recommendation
