I HAD AN EBERSPACHER HEATING SYSTEM WITH DUCTS TO THE SALOON AND CABINS FITTED TO MY CAT LAUNCHED IN JUNE THIS YEAR. UNFORTUNATELY I WAS NOT SUPPLIED WITH A MANUAL AND HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO USE IT. WHEN I TURN IT ON IT SEEMS TO DEVELOP ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELLS, BUT NO HEAT.

CAN ANY ONE TELL ME WHAT I MUST DO TO MAKE THIS WORK.

Kreugers of Chandlers Ford Hampshire are agent in the South.
( You should not make final payment on any technical goods marine or otherwise without be shown how to use the goods and getting a manual. Trying threatening your suppliers with the small claims court as redress)

They take an awful lot of power when you turn them on, it could be that the battery is not up to the job or not fully charged. You should hear the pump making a clicking noise and then hear the fan cut in before ignition takes place. If things like these do not happen then I would suggest that you may have a faulty unit.

I would still insist on a manual.

I am half way through installing an Eberspacher and have the instructions to hand.
If you would like to e-mail me direct we can discuss how to get them to you.

I had problems with an Eberspacher during warranty, their agents in Colchester (Colchester Fuel Injection) visited the boat and repaired the fault under warranty at no cost to me very impressed with their service given they had not sold it to me. It had be installed by a dealer in the South West. Prior to that I had several calls with Eberspacer technical support over another problem and they were extremly helpful and diagnosed an incorrect wiring loom fitted in error by the south west installer, which when replaced allowed the timer to work. Give them a call I'm sure they will send you a manual. +44 (0) 1425 480151

We lived on our boat in Scotland from January to June last year whilst between houses, and during the colder months the Eberspacher was on H24. I think we used around 100 gallons of diesel for heating during that period. The only problem we had was a bad connection at the main fuse, which was quickly sorted.

If your unit is giving off a bit of a smell, it could be because the unit and trunking are new and a bit of dust etc is being burnt off. It takes a few minutes before hot air is delivered. When the burner is lit you can hear a ticking sound from the pump, and this is a sure sign that hot air is on its way.

Good luck.

Try the following link for a manual of the D3LC; Haven't found the D5LC on their site, but it's pretty similar. Judging from your mail it is probaly an air heater, so very likley one of the two. I have both on my boat.
I had some initial problem that the larger would stop when switching to low load and needed to run the diesel pipes a bit different, meaning the little feeder pump lower and closer to the tank.
They go through a complex process on startup and they can smell bad when they shut down in that process. Low voltage might be a problem on starting and I think somebody mentioned this already.
Also very smelly, I saw that on a neighbor boat, is burning fenders with the exhaust. Watch out where you hang them.
