Chief Engineer asks:

After investigation, the fuse was finally located and needs replacing due to bad contacts. Current fuse holder contains one old 16amp shuttle ceramic type fuse. He wants to change it to a standard 20amp blade fuse - can anyone give advice re best type of housing? The cables are 5mm thick.

We have many other types of fuse holders & boxes in stock ready for next day delivery

I'd remove the inline fuse and just connect the cable ends. The wire supplying the heater power should be fused at the battery or switch panel.

That's exactly what I use to replace the continental type, quite regularly:o

He's he is absolutely correct. The standard fuse and fuseholder on the eberspacher is quite pathetic for marine use. I have done exactly as you describe many times.
You can buy a good quality in line blade fuseholder with flying leads and a well insulated cover from eBay and just crimp the fuseholder in place of the original one. I always do that even when installing a new eberspacher.
