Last week I asked you chaps for advice on a problem I had with firing up a second hand eber. Much very useful advice followed -- thanks all. Despite all this I could not get the fuel pump to work -- even when directly making and breaking the contact with a 12 volt supply.
Just when I was about to remove the pump and spend £165 for a new one I remembered that when I dismantled it to clean the tiny fuel filter I had also undone the outlet end to check for a blockage.
When retightening this I had a feeling that it screwed "further in" than when I took it off, but I thought it best to make it tight. As a last resort I slackened this slightly and hey presto! she bagan to tick when tickled with the 12 volts.
The system is now up and running and I was able to work in the boat this afternoon as the snow fell outside!
I think I probably damaged an inner seal when I overtightened in the first place as there is now a miniscule, but annoying, leak from the pump when running. I expect i'll need to ask Eberspacher about that one.
Thanks again all.

Goo !

i also had probs with my webasto this w/e.
un-plugged all connections re-connected Hey-presto it worked .
had to take the boat apart to reach the control box, nobody ever thinks about maintenence when fitting equipment do they. moan moan

Good news, I dont know how I managed without mine before I fitted it. There is no better sound after a cold wet days sail to be at anchor as you cuddle up,with warm air and hearing the exhaust roaring away as the wind and rain lash down.

Warm sailing to you

Paul.
