When I bought my boat at the start of this year, the Eberspacher hadn't been run for over five years. Needless to say, it wouldn't start - no sign of life at all.

So, I had a chat with a nice man on the Eber stand at the boat show. He said, the most likely cause of non-starting after a long idle period was the fuel pump sticking. He advised me to disconnect the power leads and intermittently put 12v across the terminals - the pump is a basically a solenoid that is pulsed by the controller apparently. If that doesn't get it going, hit it with a spanner he said.

Anyway, tried the pulsing trick and hey presto, it started clicking. Eber then fired up first time!

I thought I'd pass this on in case anyone else has a similar problem (and to prove that not every job on a takes hours and costs and fortune!)
