My heater has decided that it doesn't want to start anymore. ( Possibly the 10 strikes and you're out problem ? )

Can anyone recommend a good engineer in the Portsmouth/Gosport area who could fettle it ?

Any suggestions for diagnostic tests I could do myself ?

If I press the start button ( there are no programmed times set up ) the little "fire" icon does not stay lit but goes out immediately. I can't hear the unit start up. It is possible it has never worked as this is the first time we have tried using it since we bought the boat last year, though the previous owner claimed it was working.

I have just bought an Eber, bought it from Krueger. They have a service place in Hilsea. Very very helpful. What was a surprise was how resonable their prices are.

A completely unconnected, but happy customer!

Lots of recommendations for Krueger on the MOA website. They are very helpful.
And search these boards for lots of previous posts on the diagnostic question.

Before spending money check the main electrical supply. When Krueger fitted mine the rather flimsy fused connector they used sprang apart one day leaving it touching rather than connected. The controller worker 'till I pushed the fire button. The green LED lit but as soon as the heater tried to fire up it killed everything. I had the heater almost right off the boat before I found the connector and pushed the crimps on properly and reconnected it. Of course it was p*****g with rain and cold - that's why I needed the heater!
Cheers

Hi

Try Malcolm Morling at Haslar Marina, where he lives. He is a webasto installer but does other heaters as well (as well as a lot of other mechanical work). Very good, friendly and value for money. (search other posts on this forum for feedback). His telephone number is 07900 692345

Hope this helps

Tom
